workshops

Movement Meditation

Consists of a short intro and discussion on movement meditation (what is it, where did it come from, how is it helpful), and then guiding the group through a series of activities that begin from the ground up to standing while tuning in to the sensations in your body (gravity/weight, touch, temperature, sound, scent, sight, etc.). The workshop progresses to free-flow movement expression and ends in a short savasana guided meditation to integrate. ***Movement Meditation is a main tool that Foxie la Fleur uses in her choreography process - especially when feeling super self-judgmental, stuck, and overwhelmed. Its something she loves sharing with fellow creatives as a way to tune into your bodymind's innate creative instincts and to tune out the judgmental voice inside.***

Take your show to the next level by developing the perfect character to host as. We'll go over the process from start to finish: finding the right character, doing research, rehearsing voice, movement and other performance elements. Plus, we'll discuss how it informs the way you perform from the intro and rules, to act introductions, and audience interaction. The workshop will also cover general hosting and performance advice. Whether you've hosted a hundred shows or you're getting in front of the audience for the first time, this workshop has something for you. Taught by Vincent Gallant, acclaimed host and award winning actor.

Unholy, Unhinged

A Workshop on Eliciting Fear and Unease through Dance

This workshop provides a basis for developing dance routines that elicit fear and discomfort in audiences. By understanding common movement vocabularies and perverting them; by examining the interplay between the sexual and the grotesque; and by employing the instinctual ways humans use body language to communicate threat or conciliation, we can manifest characters such as The Beast, The Alien, The Killer, The Ghost and more. This workshop is based on applying horror design theory (Bernard Peron, Keiichiro Toyama, etc.) and body language coaching principles to a theatrical dance context.
